Abstract

The axial focusing properties of converging spherical waves are calculated for both Rayleigh and Rayleigh–Sommerfeld formulations of the diffraction integral, using impulse-response expressions previously developed for acoustic radiators and the well-known convolution method. The results are compared with those produced by a theoretical boundary-diffraction-wave analysis and with experimental microwave measurements.
