Abstract

The technique of signal clipping is applied to speckle-intensity correlation. The relationship between the correlation function of clipped speckle and the magnitude of the correlation coefficient of the optical field is derived using Fourier method with the assumption of Gaussian field statistics. The error in measurement of the correlation coefficient resulting from the use of a finite number of samples of the clipped signals is analyzed, and experimental results are presented.
