Abstract

The theory of a single-mode, ring-cavity Raman laser is investigated for a broadband, chaotic pump. The numerical simulations are performed with a realistic model of the noisy pump. A significant reduction of the fluctuations, found in an approximate approach of an earlier paper [ M. Lewenstein and K. Rza̧żewski, Opt. Commun. 63, 174 ( 1987)], is confirmed. In addition we find a dramatic narrowing of the spectral line.
